Metallic coatings
Metallic coatings provide classic protection against corrosion and are particularly suitable for use as abrasion or wear protection for various metal materials. They are usually applied by chemical or galvanic deposition.
A well-known representative of chemical (electroless) plating is nickel-phosphorus plating, which can be applied with high contour accuracy and is often used as wear protection.
In electroplating, elements (e.g., chromium, nickel) or alloys are deposited electrochemically on metallic surfaces. In both processes, the deposition takes place in aqueous solutions at temperatures below 100 °C.
